Alright, seriously, I am so very bored. Kevin works all day and I've had no luck finding a job (no surprise there..living in a college town with nothing in it..) So I decided to fill up my very empty day by making some crafts. this was one of them:
My little sisters Loved it! and it was great for me because we're on a pretty tight budget and I was getting really bored of my wardrobe. this was so cheap and EASY! and i think its so cute. Seriously, its so easy, anyone could do it. so I decided to show you all (Especially my sister Neinah, who is Amazing with crafts!) How to make them! Enjoy :)
What you Need...
So its simple. What you need is:
- Ribbon, any kind; thin, thick, polka dotted, whatever. just have a good amount.
- Kinda thicker thread, I didn't have thick thread, so I just doubled up. it should be about the same color as the ribbon (I obviously didn't have it.)
- Cardboard cut how big you want you petal to be.
- A needle
- Beads, any kind really.
- some sort of fire, I use a lighter, you could use a candle.
- scissors
- and Lastly a t-shirt (or whatever you want to attach these to)
With the cardboard, measure out the ribbon and trim it fit the shape on the cardboard. make sure its straight on the bottom! Cut out six of these.
The Next thing you do its very important, you need to melt all the edges that you cut, because it you don't, your flower will fray and fall apart. Carefully put the petal NEXT to the flame. DO NOT put it into the flame. it Will catch on fire...
Next, after you melt the edges, scrunch them up as shown in the picture to the left, if the ribbon has a shiny side, make sure you are folding them the same way every time. Next you sew it closed so that it stays scrunched. I don't think it matters how you sew it up. just make it so it doesn't come part.
It should look similar to the picture on the left. Make six of these the same way.
sew them together one by one and at the last one sew it to the first one so that it makes a complete circle.
Add some beads :)
While wearing the shirt, mark where you want to put the flower. Then sew it on, nice and tight :)
And that's it! if you want, you don't have to sew it to your shirt! you can just put safety pins on the back and PIN them to your shirt so that you can wear them on any shirt you want :) anyways, Have fun, don't burn yourself, and enjoy :)
